Project 365, Week 36

We're still transitioning from full-on work mode to a fall/school rhythm.

September 1
Labor Day was as early as it can be on the calendar. We spent much of it at the lake for both a work and play day. Shaun has an elbow injury, so he has started to substitute golf for fishing some mornings, which definitely mixes up the picture he sends me every day.

Nana spent the afternoon with us and she was even able to get down to the beach. This lake holds so many memories for her, going back almost 80 years ago. She thinks its just the best thing that the whole family is in the house together.

Aiden had a safe landing and right at sunset! Beleive it or not, watching Aiden's flight lessons is much less stressful than watching his soccer games when he's in goal.

September 2
Takeout dinner at the lake (and with Avery!!)

September 3
We were there working, but we've gotten to the point where work and play go hand-in-hand.

Very serious fantasy draft.

September 4
Scenes from the golf course.

Several years ago we sided the office where clients could see. This week our contractor friend came back to finish the job. Very exciting!!

Fascinating to hear Shaun and Aiden talk Physics. Its a bit clunky but we're working our way through week two of dual enrollment school for Aiden.

September 5
It was a beautiful Night of Worship with six to eight hundred people gathered.

September 6
The boys found a good spot!

At the last minute, Aiden invited his group over for some fun on the water. They're such an easy, trustworthy bunch. Its such a gift that they have each other. to do life with.

Their canoe race across the lake as the wind picked up was pretty entertaining.

September 7
Nana looked so peaceful sleeping, I hated to wake her with my visit.

Football Sunday!!

Numbering Days, Week 158-170

Now that the posts about our lake house project are wrapping up, now that its been three months since I've written about cancer here, and now that I have some good news to report...here I am.

If we were keeping score, bad news has handily outweighed the good in my health journey. For whatever reason, my body generally prefers the hard way...the road less traveled, if you will. ;)

BUT, yesterday I went to New York for labs and a PET scan and, year-over-year, the scan shows  "unchanged"!! AND the tumor marker number went down.

This is miraculous, truly! It defies what *should* be happening.

So, we are giving thanks for a good report, pausing to celebrate and delight in the process and what we do have. Its true that we can train our hearts to experience delight that is not outcome-dependent.

Often without thought, or sometimes with great effort I ask myself, what is good in my story? Today, reading test results, the good was easy to spot. Today, flipping the calendar to October and knowing the splendor we are about to witness in New England, the good was easy to spot. Today, hugging all three of my kids, the good was easy to spot. Today, when tears of joy were shed on my behalf by people deeply invested in our story, the good was easy to spot.

Your prayers and love and support help to sustain me. The fact that you (still!!) follow our story and care...it means alot.
