Well, another week of quarantine. We've gotten into a rhythm that mostly works...the kids do school and screen time and read while we are at work and then in the evenings we eat dinner together and play games and read some more or do the hot tub.
In a normal year, this week would have been frenzied and stretching...we would've had a week of shows, complimented with the final push of tax season, sprinkled with a dose of preparing to host 40-50 people for Easter.
While its strange and sad to not have those things happen, Shaun and I have also noted how nice it is to be actively participating in spring...what an incredible time of year in nature!

The slower, quiet mornings are preferable to the frenzied, fragmented, running off to school or an activity mornings. Aiden is usually the first kid up.
April 7
Shaun took down a couple dead trees in the back lot and we all joined in for some yard work.
April 8
These two binge-read a book series this entire week.
Family fun run, week #2. I surprised the kids by winning. :)
I am so enjoying our weekly meetings with the teens as we work through Hebrews. Its so good to see familiar faces!

What started out with looking for a statement, turned into unpacking two boxes that had been tucked in a corner of the office since the move. Found lots of treasures!
I texted this and a few others to Izaya, which prompted a nice conversation. We're in touch about once a month...he's such a great kid! He has his license, a job, bought his own car and is graduating from high school this spring. So thankful for good reports!
Facetiming with little cousins. :)
April 10
Good Friday. Instead of wrapping up the show as we have for the past 10 years, we had a quiet evening at home, and took communion, lead by our pastor on the TV and the five of us in the living room.
We reminisced about the Christmas Eve service we had at my sister's home when I was sick and couldn't be out in public places. So very special!
April 11
We took the kite out, with some success...it really should have been a little windier, but we still had fun being outside.
And then we watched our Easter service, which was a showing of The Passion and the Cross. It was sad to watch, instead of being there, having missed the fun and crazy of the show season. But it was also good to see so many people we know and love. :)
April 12
The morning dawned beautifully and was the perfect back drop for my reflection of what Easter morning means...whether in times of peace and plenty or in the middle of a pandemic.
I watched my dad do a sunrise service, social distancing style. Even though he's just weeks away from retiring, he done the hard work of pivoting for the times, doing services on Facebook. Pretty inspiring!
I am ALL about tradition, and we've worked hard over many years to put them in place. Honestly, it was sad to not have our house full of family. But the five of us had brunch together and then we headed outdoors, where Nathan had pulled a portion of the family together. Even my big kids were excited to do the Easter egg hunt.
When we got home, the kids got to work on a scavenger hunt my brother put together, a list of 20 or so activities to do or scenes to create, all with an hour time limit. Later we met up online to compare photos and videos. Again, SO good to see everyone's faces!!
Whenever I cull photos, I find the "missed" jumping pictures to be very comical. :)
Should have told everyone to say cheese...I think the sad faces are because we were saying goodbye.
