Project 365, Week 33

August 10
Rain shower just long enough to get everyone soaked.

August 11
We did our run mid-day to get in all our other activities the rest of the day. It was quite warm at noon! Against all odds, SHAUN was the winner this day of bragging rights and the coveted Chick-fil-A winner's milkshake!

Our library offers curbside pickup for a few hours a week. Weird. But better than what we've had.

We had a family over from church who live close but we didn't (yet) know very well. It was such a great evening. I cannot get enough of lingering on the porch on a beautiful summer day.

August 12
Warm summer evening for soccer, sitting with my two best guys.

August 13
A couple months ago we looked into downsizing our 8-passenger Suburban now that our family has shrunk from 8 to 5. But then we loaded up for a road trip and laughed at ourselves. #trueAmericans

We arrived in Washington DC! In the fall of last year Amanda's 8th grade class was planning a class trip. We weren't comfortable with her going for a couple days with her class, but we promised her when we did our spring Florida trip, we'd stop and see the sights.

August 14
We hit the pavement early because we had a lot to pack into one day! On a summer Friday, DC was a ghost town...it felt strange. We walked the national mall

I wanted to post both of these family photos because I think its important to be reminded that no matter how smiley and put together a family photo looks, there is often the brief squabble beforehand of where so and so is standing or who is touching who or how hot or cold it is. Embrace that we are all a work in process! :)

Ah...there's the Instagram-worthy shot. ;)

We've been ALL ABOUT Hamilton, so the kids were tickled to see the US Treasury.

Aiden is a long-time fan of Nathan Hale. He grew up in our town and Aiden's middle school is named after him.

We took a break from the walking for PBJs. I promise I also provided fruit for them. ;)

Then we walked a block to the Museum of the Bible, one of the few museums open. We all really liked it and wished we'd had more time there. Avery even said it was her favorite part of our entire week-long+ vacation.

August 15
We were back on the road before the sun to meet up with our family in the Outerbanks. For years and years we've gone to Florida to visit Nana after tax season. This year, however "after tax season" was actually July 15th and additionally they are still under heavy quarantine being high-risk. Since the season was shifted, it better lined up with the end of our brother
