There was a holiday feel in the air this week of Thanksgiving...preparation before and downtime after. There are so many things to be thankful for, even when life is not ideal (is it ever??)
November 23
A long time ago I made the choice that "rainy days and Mondays" would not always get me down.
November 24
In keeping with tradition, Shaun did a couple pre-holiday projects around the house. They are such cute, homeowner projects now and not major contractor jobs. Thank you, Lord! I'm so grateful for Shaun's diligence in keeping things running and fixed and taken care of around the house.
(Should the sconces point up or down? We chose down. Now there is lighting on both walls in my dining room.)
The kids put up some more Christmas lights with lots of fun and dancing and little fighting.
Making my list, checking it twice, doing the preparation work to be done two days out.
I spent much of the day in the kitchen with my sidekick. She keeps things interesting!
Thanksgiving!! Last year we held the First Annual neighborhood Fun Run. This year, they took it to a whole new level with a 5K added and a DJ. It felt so festive!
First the Fun Run...
A police officer who happened to be patrolling our neighborhood (or maybe was called out because of the loud music) happened upon our little outdoor gathering. We held our collective breath, thinking we were busted, instead he threw on his car lights and did a little dance. :)
Aiden came in 3rd, with a PR by quite a bit despite the hills. Amanda also put forth an outstanding effort.
The rest of the family started to file in as the race was winding down (whimps! ;)
For reasons I can't explain, Uncle Nathan thought a post-race ice bath would be a good idea (???).
Avery and Amanda braved it as well.
Nana and Grandpa John were unable to come up from Florida as they have every year for quite some time. They are a Thanksgiving fixture and were sorely missed!
The rest of the day was slow and relaxing, just what you would expect from a Thanksgiving evening.
A fun surprise on our walking path, a solid half mile from any parking.
Happy 14th birthday, Amanda!! The kids snuggled up for movie time and then we made a Chick-fil-A run.
Cousins were quarantining, but they did a drive by to wish Amanda a happy birthday.
The girls had a Friendsgiving and it was perfect that this was the evening that worked schedule-wise. They spent lots of time
off of their phones playing games, talking in the hot tub and around the table.
We got the tree and the house decked for the holidays.
We love having Sarah around...she's a regular part of our weekends and she fits right in!
I love the property at the new office space...we own about two acres, part office space/parking lot, part woods and stream. Shaun and I have been deciding where we're going to make our lunch date spot. :)
Wow to the Thanksgiving run!!!!! Might give Manchester a run for their money! Next level!!!!! Also, wow to your lunch spot! Loved all your thanksgiving pictures!
