Lots of snow and Christmas and family in this week. The pace of December this year was so enjoyable, doable, quiet, attainable. Not that it can/should be like this every year, but there were not too many complaints coming from our home about all the parties and activities missed.
December 14
Barely awake boys and such sweet friends. I was off and running the rest of the day, so I'm glad I got to notice this moment, the good stuff disguised as ordinary.
December 15
The soccer team had their end-of-season "banquet" via Zoom. So proud of the heart and effort they put in.
We did a family shopping trip to get names crossed off the Christmas list.
December 16
The kids earned a fun trivia night at TBQ and we went with a Christmas theme. We weren't allowed to serve food but the kids are very understanding and they readily go with the flow.
Snow!! Though many surrounding towns closed, our town declared it a remote learning day. The kids did a full day with live teachers and still had time to play outside. Since we closed the office, it was nice to have everyone home.
Annual youth group Christmas party! Even though it looked different this year, the girls were still excited to get all dressed up. Pretty, grown-up girls!!
December 19
Pop and Kiki had the kids over for sledding and Christmas baking. They are so intentional about finding things the kids will enjoy doing with them. And it works! The kids really enjoy time with them.
Our town's volunteer first responders drove around town giving us a light parade. So fun, festive and generous!
Christmas for Shaun's side! Sarah and Tony hosted and the most magical, non-accumulating snow fell all afternoon and evening. The exact snow that all the Christmas carols are about!
For a variety of reasons, several members were not able to join in-person, but technology came through in a pinch. With us via Zoom were Nana and Grandpa John, Jared and his girlfriend and Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Diane.
As always, ours hosts did an incredible job. There was a cousins swap and an adult swap and we enjoyed a crackling fire all day. For the first time I can remember, I forgot my camera at home....so there aren't many photos but I did get to settle in and be present in the day.
The girls looked so beautiful for the Christmas banquet! And I love that the ahead-of-Christmas, Christmas celebration at Sarah's tradition lives on. Looked like a wonderful day!
