Project 365, Week 28

Some summer fun this week!

July 5
Many thanks to Nana for making this family event possible. Years ago she had the brilliant idea...as a Christmas gift to everyone, she funds a sporting event of our choosing throughout the year. We go early and stay late to tailgate and just enjoy a day hanging out together. We've had some wins and losses with the weather, but this year was perfect! We watched the US Women's soccer team in a "friendly" with Mexico and then stayed to watch the send off ceremony on their way to the Olympics. We had so much fun!!

Nathan, of all people would appreciate this photo being in here. 😛

Amanda's aunt ran her down to where the Mexican players were taking selfies with fans. Clearly, Amanda was quite pleased!

July 6
More soccer! Amy and Colombo opened their place so that we could spend the day with a family who was commemorating the one-year mark of their husband/dad passing. Instead of moping around, why not hang out with friends and get clawed in a game of pool basketball?

July 7
Nearly every week TBQ begins with football.

July 8
My only picture. The bathroom at the office building has and interesting color scheme. Trying to decide what it should be changed to.

July 9
The remnants of a hurricane came up the east coast and we got 3+ inches of rain in a very short amount of time. While the girls were babysitting, Shaun and Aiden made the rounds to our various buildings doing water damage control. I was at the office and when I looked out the window, my car was being swallowed up. Shortly after, I waded out up to my knees to move it to dry ground.

July 10
Post storm, the stream at the office building was going strong.

July 11
We got to meet sweet 12 day-old Rosalie and we're completely, madly in love.

Project 365, Week 27

New life, new driver, holidays and so much work. Life is hard and oh so good.

June 28
The site guys came out to the building and created four parking spots in the front of the building. Amazing how quickly machines can get work done.

June 29
Breathing in the morning sunshine before the world is awake. I've been fighting some mental and spiritual battles and I've had to do a lot of extra work to be ok. My best go-to is talking it out with God in His creation. When I make Him big in my mind instead of shrinking Him to something I can easily understand, life goes better.

Shaun takes the girls to their 8AM soccer practice a couple times a week and stays to work with Aiden. Love how much he puts into the kids, even when its hot and sunny.

Avery passed the test and has her driver's permit! She drove home from the DMV and is looking for every opportunity to get behind the wheel. She's responsible and observant so I'm sure she'll do great!

June 30
A new life to love! Little Rosalie was born to Kim and Ronnie and we can't wait to meet her.

This was the first night for the 6th grade graduates to move from Junior Bible Quiz to Teen Bible Quiz. The room was buzzing and there was excitement in the air and its encouraging to see the group grow.

July 1
The kids arranged to be at Sarah's for swimming and games so we dropped them off and went to dinner and Home Depot, just the two of us. I can't even imagine the hours we've spent in these aisles over the years, walking among the lumber and electrical and flooring and lighting making decisions for properties we're improving and caring for, often with very little money. We don't have "our song" but we have "our smell"...fresh lumber, sheetrock, a new coat of paint.

July 2
Aiden is being trained and entrusted with more and more power tools. He was proud to have me watch him operate the one that throws off sparks.

July 3
My only picture, a random business. Once the work on the parking lot happened, we realized we had to go to a plan B for the layout. You know you're adulting when you spend hours talking about parking lot design.

 July 4

Independence Day! After church we went to our church picnic. Rain was in the forecast, but it turned out to be perfect weather!

After, we went to Amy and Colombo's for a yummy cookout and lots of people!
