February's 10 on 10

10 pictures on the 10th day (Saturday) of the month!
{Document a snapshot of your life...find beauty among the ordinary things in your day!}

Working through Exodus and Leviticus with a bit of Psalms. If I'd been on the Bible-writing committee, I would have trimmed down Leviticus from 27 chapters to 1 and instead would have used that space to tell more of Jesus' growing up years. I'd love to read a "Ten on Ten" from a day in his life. :)

I slept later than usual and took the morning slow, so Ginger didn't get a walk. She was giving me the sad eyes as I left for work.

We always have a candle burning in the office and clients are especially enthusiastic about this particular scent. The Valentines chocolate is pretty popular, too.

Lots of picking up and dropping off.

Its absolutely exhausting but I so enjoy being at the office. I love talking with people...those I've known for years and others I've never met before. For the people sitting in the waiting room, its always my goal to get them to engage in conversation instead of getting buried in their phone. Maybe this makes me a very annoying person like my kids insist, but my hope is they leave feeling like someone noticed them and cared. Either way, I learn so much about how we are different and also very much the same.

The front of the office is in full sun the entire day and this makes my plants happy by their window.

Shaun and I hit the hot tub and watched the sunset from the reflection and also through the window to the other side of the house.

After dinner I cleaned the kitchen. I did it without being told, with a happy heart and without arguing, a welcomed change to how it often happens when the regular dishes person is home.

I checked in on the kids and thought they must be having such a great time, only to learn the next day that they were not...such a bummer.

I sit in my recliner way too much and I've never really cared for watching TV. But here I am. The Smithsonian channel has a show called Air Disasters that Shaun and I watch together and though it sounds terrible, its actually fascinating how they piece together what went wrong. I'm practically ready to be a commercial pilot.

Project 365, Week 6

We're working our way through February, which has actually been mild. Lots of time at the office and too much time away from home, but I turn my heart toward thankfulness for the ordinariness of going to work each day.

February 5
Aiden's alarm goes off at 5:30 and he is often the first one up. He starts his morning with coffee and is working through the Bible-in-a-year plan.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. III John 1:4

February 6
Such a beautiful morning!

February 7
The sunset at the office was special.

February 8
We completed some trainings and paperwork and the social worker came out to do our re-licensing for foster care. I don't know what we'll do with it, but I'm not ready to let it go. At the very least, if something ever changed in Dakota's situation I want to be first in line to take him.

My niece had her senior night. She has been homeschooled and their town has been great about allowing her and her siblings to participate in extra-curricular activities at the middle/high school. My dad has been her loyal fan all season but he was out of state so Amy, Kiki and I drove out to her game even though we knew she wouldn't play because she'd hurt her ankle. It was fun to be a part of it and so crazy that the '06ers are wrapping up high school years shortly.

February 9
Amanda and Aiden went to Snow Camp in New York for the weekend with a group from church. A couple parents shared the drop off/pick up duties.

February 10
The winter sun comes through the house at the most pleasant angles.

February 11
Camp wrapped up and the kids got home around 5. We were excited to hear all about their time but they rated it "meh" or maybe even under that. The food was great though, which Aiden never says. :)

While the house was quiet I grilled for the first time of the season and enjoyed the hints of spring.

Project 365, Week 5

We closed out January and welcomed February. The groundhog indicated that spring would come early, so we will eagerly look for signs of nature springing up.

January 29
On Monday mornings the kids are all gone by 7:45 AM. Ginger and I came back from our walk to find a party happening in the driveway.

Shaun and I attended CPR training, a DCF requirement for relicensing.

January 30
No picture.

January 31
It was the last day to return some items from Christmas, so Amanda and I went to drop off during her study hall. The dam was too pretty to not stop and there was even a guy fishing.

February 1
Jack has a great job now and with benefits so we were chatting with them about all things financial.

February 2
My mom came up from Florida for several day. She was staying with Amy but Avery and I snuck out of work for an hour to see her and it just happened to coincide with when Little Ezra was there. Oh my word...she's smiling now and is just about the cutest thing ever. Maddy mothers so naturally and gracefully, while also being honest about the challenges that come that whole scene.

Apparently there was a big movie viewing at my house after youth group but I was sound asleep while Shaun was parent on duty.

February 3
Over $1k of loose coin has been counted and put into wrappers. Until next time...

February 4
Look! A flower, and its hardly even February! 😉

The family got together before my mom headed out the next day. Amy put much of it together and brought it over....we ate soup and bread and sundaes and it was delicious and so great to have everyone together. There were a couple tweens, nine teens, a couple young-marrieds, three great-grandparents and (no one would argue) best of all...a toddler, a newborn and a puppy...it was actually a slice of heaven. So much love, so much fun, so very blessed.
