Project 365, Week 41

My Monday-Friday job this week was recovering from the toxic chemicals dumped into me. Literally, the nurse has to put on a special gown of protection before hanging the drugs that are already in a thick plastic bag, destined for my veins. Crazy stuff.

But my family carries on with life, theirs, and also shouldering whatever burdens my absence creates. None of us like it...actually, we all hate it, but it has become somewhat routine. What a grace that we have grown in our capacity to do hard things. From the book I'm currently reading, Remember, courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway. :)

October 5
Avery has been such a brave girl...over the years she has seen and been a part of so many awful things. And now we know that infusions sit differently with her when she's pregnant. For the second time in a row she started feeling ill. Poor girl had to step outside and get some air and eat a snack. No more for her!

Amanda sent a picture of a rare movie night in her dorm. I love glimpses of the no-screen life on campus. People are together, doing things together, being a part of something...together.

October 6
A golf course picture from my sweet guy who's always thinking about me.

October 7
Amanda wears many hats as an intern and each day looks a little different. Sometimes she's planning events, other times she's snuggling little guys, or doing school pickup with a coffee shop and card games along the way.

October 8
Made it downstairs and onto the couch on the porch.

October 9
It was so good to be out and about again! I made the rounds and took notice of the autumn porches at the office and the lake.

October 10
Speaking of the lake, we tag teamed watching the kids and getting projects done. The twins are on the move!

When Shaun was about Aiden's age, my dad helped with the construction of an addition on his parent's house. In that process, my dad taught Shaun how to tape and now Shaun is teaching Aiden how to tape. Pretty cool.

Dakota holds tightly to our now eight-years-running bedtime routine of a bottle of milk, singing Jesus Loves Me and praying. Our house is where he gets to be a kid, the little guy. He slept in Amanda's room and was sad to not have her there, but we sent her a picture.

October 11
I only do the 8-year old, Jack and Avery do the twins. We joined Avery in the morning before heading to our church responsibilities.

Our family and our church family have always been so gracious and kind to the kids we bring around. As we were waiting for the shuttle, Dakota met a new friend who assisted him in detangling his rubber slap hand from the tree he was purposely whipping. I appreciated that the friend didn't judge the punk kid, he just engaged with him and jumped in to help.
