Fall entered this week and we had such beautiful weather.

Lenny the lobster is still on the porch, waiting for some orange duct tape so he can be safely moved to the basement. Seems like Ginger appreciates a companion.

The time of year when the summer blooms are giving their final effort and fall begins to take over.
Avery and Jack invited us to their place for dinner. They have their apartment set up so nicely and it was cozy with all their new fall decor. The meal was delicious and then we played cards. Oh my goodness...I'm in awe of how grown-up and capable they are!

I met up with a long-time friend and we sat on her dock. We rarely see each other but when we do, our conversation goes straight to the heart. She's been such a blessing to me.
Shaun and Aiden found other water to start the morning.
Nana was intrigued by my water bottle and thought that she should take a picture. Credit where credit is due, a 96 year old braving a smart phone.
The sky at church on a Wednesday night.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Siding work and amazing weather continues.

Like we did last September, Amy and I made a quick trip to Sioux Falls to see our friend's new show.
I thought it was fitting that were together on this day that marked 11 years since I got The Call that instantly flipped our world upside down. This girl wasted no time stepping in with food and community and prayers and presence. Amy has never once shied away from the hard or inconvenient (good grief! has it been hard and inconvenient!), all while managing her own household of six kids. Her heart is huge and she is the a fierce advocate and protector of her people and I'm just so grateful for her.
Our flight was delayed three hours, which got us in late enough that we missed the Friday night show.
This flight gave me a clear picture of what I often think about...it may be dark and stormy where I am, but somewhere, above the clouds, the sun is most certainly shining.
Indescribable, un-duplicatable, profound Presence on this one-hour flight. From beginning to end I listened to a new-to-me album in my earbuds as we followed the sunset west. I don't even have adequate words but it will stay in my heart.
Glory to God the Father
Glory to Christ the Risen One
All hail the King, with Heaven sing
Hallelujah
Amy and I spent a few brief moments talking about the anniversary, what it has meant and means currently to live with cancer. I also went back through a few of my posts from the early days, 11 years ago. Its a jumble of feelings and memories that I'll never be able to fully sort through, I just know that all my life He has been faithful and so, so good.

The show didn't start until 2:00 so we had the morning to ourselves to slowly wander the street downtown. Its unexpectedly thriving and artsy and clean.
Lights Up Productions has been very dear to us for many years. We began serving with Brent and Tami when our kids were little and truly much of their formation happened in the theater. They were beyond special and impactful years with so many core memories. The Grosvenors are such good and faithful stewards of this ministry and their community.

Before we left for the show, we were able to watch the live stream of our uncle's funeral in Washington state and throughout the afternoon my dad sent pictures. My brother went out to be a support and both he and my dad spoke at the funeral (looking so handsome!)

My dad was born in Idaho and was one of seven kids. Those kids had a bunch of kids, who are having kids. My dad and mom moved to the east coast when I was young, so I didn't grow up close to this side but the family connection is evident still. This picture is just a small sampling of the cousins.

We had a 5 AM flight (I love my luggage hauler.)
I spotted Niagra Falls from the air. We are small. Our Creator is big.
I was home in time to change and meet up with Avery and we were off to Dakota's mom's baby shower. She wore blue, I wore pink, one for each twin.
Eric's mom did a lovely job putting it all together. There were sweet decorations and good food. It was also open to men and kids and it got a little chaotic. I would have stayed and met new people all day, but about this point (country music blasting not pictured) Avery said, I am very over-stimulated 🤣
