Project 365, Week 39

We've been enjoying some truly incredible weather, making all our activities a little sweeter. Nature is starting to tease out some fall colors and its lovely.

September 18
Sometimes the world feels to dark, too lost, too broken. But then I remember someone saying that its in the darkest dark that a light is most easily seen.

September 19
My buddy. Truthfully, sometimes it is such relief when its bedtime story time and the day has drawn to a close.

September 20
His mind is going...always. He thinks about the way the world works, he ponders life's mysteries, he contemplates and figures things out. In case I ever wondered what 8 year-old Shaun was like, now I know. ;)

Avery and I have started going to church on Wednesday nights, now that she's a little older and in youth group. Being out until 9 on a school night used to be a frightening thought when she was littler, now its a joy to be with her and get the time together. Also, the sunset is currently happening at just the right time for the purposes of our drive. :)

September 21
The beautiful Department of Children and Families building which holds so much loss, pain, hope and love. Meetings there always hold some degree of hard, just because of the nature of them. And again, back to the light in the dark thing.

September 22
Happy Fall!!

Our little crew managed to get quite a load of brush into the truck, dump bound.

September 23
Amanda and Shaun's first game in the CT Cup tournament. It was early and across the state and they won! Its fun to watch Shaun's passion and Amanda's athletism.

Game number two, back on our home field.

September 24
Avery had an early game out in the middle of farm country.

After her game, we met up with the others who had gotten an early start at the Big E, a large New England two-week fair. Shaun and I are not fair people, but we thought J would enjoy doing that for her 16th birthday. When we arrived, they were watching the horse show and J was sitting next to Shaun, telling him all about how it worked and what it meant. He was doing his best to share in her excitement. It was very sweet.

After having some lunch together, we snapped a family photo before Shaun and Amanda left for their soccer game. Ahh...fall!

Back at home...J thanked me, declaring it her best birthday ever.

  1. I LOVE J's gratefulness and obvious elation for her birthday. That cake picture is priceless. So, good job getting to the 'fair'. Next time we will work on what to eat at the fair. Hint: NOT Subway!! -- You are very good at doing the hard and painful and always seeing the light. xoxo

  2. Oh that last picture brought me to tears - so sweet! I don't think I've mentioned before how beautiful your older two girls are - so they fit right into your beautiful family.
