Mainely Good Times

We had a fantabulous time in Maine over the weekend.  Shaun's family has a small cottage on a lake in the middle of Maine, about a 5 hour drive for us...unless a kid throws up or needs to go potty or you run into holiday traffic...all hypothetical, of course. :)  The kids actually did really well traveling, watching movies most of the way or sleeping.
We arrived close to dinner time on Saturday and the kids headed right for the water.
Each night there were several camps around the lake setting off some pretty impressive fireworks.
Sunday, the 4th was spent fishing, swimming, reading and general chillin'.  Maine is a wonderful vacation...there is no TV, no Internet and very limited cellphone coverage.  Nothing to do but be together and we did lots of that.
Avery's two aunties showed her how to fish.  Here she and Sienna are with their combined first fish.
We were there with Shaun's two brothers and their families.  The kids were thrilled to have their aunts and uncles there, as they are very "hands on" and always good for some fun.
The girls decorated a cake so we could celebrate in style.
All-American boy.
On Monday it was more of the same.
Later we went to a little cafe "in town" for dinner and ice-cream.  They just happened to have a playground there too.
And, it doesn't always happen when we are in Maine, but there was in fact a moose sighting....

The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.
Psalm 89:11
