Project 365, Week 10

What a week! We packed lots of work and play and practice and competing into it.

March 4
Monday morning and we woke up to more snow than we've had all season. We were also still without heat or hot water. Shaun and I were out very early shoveling and then he left for the plumbing store to get the part he thought would fix the boiler. (He got a part they had in stock that he used to mickey-mouse it and then I drove later in the day to pick up the actual part we needed).

Kim had the day off of school and work so she came and spent it with the kids. When I returned from the office, I took them to the local elementary school. It was perfect conditions for sledding...the snow was just the right consistency and the temperature was moderate. It was so much fun watching them enjoy each other and the activity. Sledding pictures and swimming pictures are my favorite because they capture pure joy.

Later we all went to Shaun's basketball game, his last regular season game and my first to watch. He plays with his two brothers so we get to see family, too.

March 5
So much reading, this one.

March 6
A new day!

March 7
Different day, same sweatshirt (probably same socks, too!).

March 8
For the first year, the girls were eligible/available for Fine Arts, a competion for creatives in our denomination, open to 7-12 graders.

I was in awe of these kids for putting themselves out there in front of their peers and a panel of judges. SO gutsy and admirable!! We watched cousins compete in short sermon, dance, and vocal solo. Avery and Amanda were part of a drama ensemble and Amanda and Trevor did a duet. Such a fun day of hanging out, watching talented (and/or brave) kids.

March 9
Last Junior Bible Quiz of the season, we'll start back up with competitions in the fall.

When we began in July we had no idea what we were getting into. We just had a couple dedicated leaders and a group of enthusiastic, competitive kids. We've practiced weekly and have competed monthly. The kids have grown in knowledge and character and have bonded. Such a great thing to be a part of!

March 10
Sweet little lady who knows how to clap.
