Project 365, Week 9

Tough week for us, as tax season takes its toll and, inevitably, things come up such as boiler issues, as was the case for us this week. Inconveniently (but thankfully) our tax guy is also our HVAC repair guy. It stretched and strained. Love had to be a choice when it was not a feeling. ;) Sometimes being not selfish, not easily offended, giving the benefit of the doubt and trusting is hard work. But always its worth it.

My second time helping a child get their license...CT requires parent and child together sit through a drug/alcohol/safety class. It was a good reminder that when we get behind the wheel, we are driving a weapon that could hurt or kill someone.

February 26
Trevor and Amanda got together and worked diligently on their upcoming duet for Fine Arts.

A big group of kids had the guts to show up to auditions for speaking lines for the upcoming Passion and the Cross. Amanda and Aiden were both SO nervous!

Earlier in the evening Aiden did the barn pickup with me and asked to use my phone in the car. He got his cousin/bff Rocco on Facetime and, after he'd been assured that Rocco was in a private place, he asked Rocco's advice about what part he should try out for (even though they are assigned a part..they don't really choose). It was obvious to me as the mom that Aiden was being very vulnerable to even be making the call. Rocco listened, tried to defer the decision to whatever Aiden felt, but when Aiden made it clear he was looking for Rocco's advice, Rocco offered input and then made the extra effort to be encouraging. It was SUCH a sweet exchange...those two nine year-old boys know more about true friendship than most adults.

Proud of these gutsy kids doing auditions.

Screening time. If you are due for any type of cancer screening, stop putting it off...make a call and get it done!

March 1
Everyone is very happy to see each other after school. :)

We couldn't believe how much he'd changed in two weeks.

March 2
J made it to regionals for the Interscholastic Equestrian Association team. She took second place in her category.

The indoor soccer was only slightly warmer than the indoor horse riding.

The boiler stopped working, which meant we had no heat or hot water. I sent out a text to our neighborhood group looking for a warm shower for J after her day at the barn and within minutes someone offered for us to use theirs, even though they weren't home (she opened the garage door with an app on her phone!). Over the next couple days that we were out the neighbors offered showers and a place to sleep...it was amazing!

March 3
After church and drama practice the girls went into Hartford with our youth pastors for a quick photos shoot. They had SO much fun!

Back at Passion rehearsal the boys were bonding over screen time when there was a break.

  1. That little story of the boys' FaceTime call was so sweet! You have awesome neighbors!!! I'm jealous of people that can offer an unexpected SHOWER without total panic and need to clean first. #goals
