Its The Little Things

Where do I start?  Well, this week has been spent packing, which regrettably includes my least favorite parenting job...changing out clothes for the new season.  I pull out all the summer clothes, figure out what fits and what is lacking.  Let me say, I am so, SO thankful for the blessing of hand-me-downs.  We have a few faithful donators and so far have had to spend very little on clothing for our kids.  Its one of Avery's great pleasures in life to go up to the third floor (aka clothes storage place) and go through bags of clothes from her cousin Madison and friend Payton.  Here's one of the "outfits" she came up with.

Anyway...all week I've been looking for a bag with flip flops that I bought at the end of season last year.  Could not find it and it was bugging me.  Finally, this morning I prayed simply, Lord, please help me find that blasted bag.  Approximately 90 seconds later I found it, where I'd already looked.  I told the girls and they thought it was so cool (not sure if it was the bag full of sandals or the answered prayer that they were impressed with).  Cute shoes, right?
Look what I paid for them!  Plus, I had a coupon!
Then, I ran out quick to hit a few errands and since I was returning a book to the library anyway, I thought I'd inquire at the desk if my netflixed items had come in even though I had not gotten the usual email letting me know.  Several of my requests were in, just in time for vacation!  I was so excited.  (I'll let you know if I recommend any of them)
Earlier this week I was cleaning out the stroller that I apparently hadn't used since last August during softball season.  I found a special blanket that I had wondered what in the world had happened to and I found a few tiny pieces of clothing.  His (July) hospital hat.  That was a fun discovery.

To top it all off, just as I was signing in to do this post, I spotted the {new!} spell-check feature blogger just added.  I've been a couple months without it since I updated to their latest version.  I'm sure all you readers (especially the nit-picky ones like me) will appreciate the use of spell check in my posts.

All these things are 'kisses from the King'.  That's what I've heard it referred to as and I like it.  Thanks God for the little things...reminders that you are not too big to care about my little things.

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

  2. You have such a sweet blog! We love hand-me-downs around here! Such a life-saver...and the outfit is priceless! I'm proud that you were able to just go with it and let her wear it out! I would struggle with that so much...OCD to the max! I'm trying...
