Project 365, Week 51.5

Lots of Christmas in the air this week!

December 18
We took a day off and headed to Newport, RI to check out the mansions all decked out for Christmas. It was a lovely day with my girls, and especially an honor to celebrate a big birthday. These ladies encourage and inspire me and I'm always thankful when we get time together.

December 19
Major holiday = major remodeling project.

Aiden and Amanda had been asking to go to the store so they could get shopping done, so they gathered their allowance money and off to the dollar store we went. Poor Aiden was immediately overwhelmed at the thought of buying for four sisters, but we talked through some ideas and he got into it pretty quickly.

When he spotted the silly string, it was a drop-the-mic moment. The angels sang and he just knew it was the perfect gift for Amanda. They were both completely giddy with their purchases and realized what the Bible says is true...its more blessed to give than to receive.

December 20
Since February when the girls came to live with us, Aiden has been sleeping on a twin mattress on the floor. Finally, it was his turn to get a real bed. While he and Avery were at back-to-back basketball practices, Amanda, J and I cleaned and rearranged Aiden's room. Shaun set up the headboard that I'd found on the side of the road months ago and the mattress and box spring that I ordered from Amazon, delivered to our door in two days! He was completely surprised, happy and grateful...so cute.

December 21
Working and wrapping.

December 22

Shaun's family has a secret family recipe for Christmas cookies, so we gathered and had the little elves go to work.

December 23
Closer, closer....

Christmas with Shaun's side at Sarah's house. Always such a lovely evening.

December 24
We let the kids exchange gifts with each other. It was super sweet to see their joy and to see how well they know each other. :)

After a big day of cooking and finishing remodeling jobs, we headed off to the Christmas Eve service, one of my favorite hours of the year.

December 25
A favorite from the day. Little Renna got a polaroid camera as a present and she insisted that she wanted a group shot. This is the collection of people who complied (or were already sitting on the couch. ;)

  1. What an amazing week! I think the Newport trip should be an annual tradition. Actually, maybe biannual since spring is pretty spectacular there too! :) The shot of Amanda with the purse is such a fave and the ones of Aiden seeing his room are SO great! The group shot on Christmas is fantastic- especially Shaun's face!
