Last night we had our first choir practice for the small Christmas program we will be doing at church. The very first song we sang was "O, Holy Night", my all-time favorite. I tried to hold it in, but I was so giddy. About the song and about Christmas coming.
In high school, my friend Mandy and I would start our Christmas countdown at 100+ days. We had most classes together so it was easy to mark off each day and to feed off each other's excitement. We are true kindred spirits in the Christmas department.
Well, since I've gotten older and matured (uh-hem) I've tried to tone down my anticipation just a little. Also Shaun does not allow Christmas music to be played until Thanksgiving. Plus I love Thanksgiving and want to give it what is due, but...
Well, last night just got me in the mood! And incidentally, Mandy sent me a Facebook message a while ago telling me there were 82 days left! :) Now there are 35, in case you are counting.

This was our Christmas card picture in 2005, our first year with Avery. She turned 5 months old on this day (Thanksgiving) and we had never tried to sit her up on her own. Well, we set her on this sled and she never fell off. From that time on she sat great all by herself.
Sweet! I have been listening for Christmas music for over a week now... I extend the season as far before and after the actually day as possible! I love it to! :o) I think "O' Holy Night" is my favorite too.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is the sweetest!!! We're taking our Christmas picture tomorrow. I am way excited for Christmas too!!! I've been listening to Christmas music since August! That's when I start practicing for different Christmas programs. I'm singing the alto solos in Handel's Messiah this year. I still haven't gotten bored with any of the music. Just love it!!
ReplyDeleteMercy, she's as sweet as honey! I'm all about the Christmas season too, but draw the "holiday" line distinctly after lunch on Thanksgiving. LOL! After that, it's all over and I am ready to put up a tree and get on with it. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous, Christmas picture! How fun to look back!
ReplyDeleteLove, Love, LOVE the christmas card photo! I've been wracking my brain for ideas, but I have come up with NOTHING. Too bad we don't have any snow in Atlanta. I'd be harnassing "the crazy dog" as we speak!
ReplyDeleteThat is my absolute favorite Christmas song too...I love the power and beauty of it.
ReplyDeleteYour hubby sounds just like mine...he doesn't let like anything Christmasy before Thanksgiving, and I suppose he has a point, but I get so excited I can hardly wait!
This has to be one of the most beautiful Christmas cards ever. Well done, Lisa!! And how amazing that she SAT for the first time and it's memorialized in this way. :)
