Somewhere along the way I messed up the weeks. I started to go back to find my mistake and decided it was not worth the time. Whatever we want to call it, this was the week between Christmas and New Year's, last part of 2021 and first couple days of 2022.
Last year because of Covid, the week after Christmas was wide open and when Amy suggested the crazy idea of doing a road trip to Virginia Beach, we were all in! It was so much fun, we planned another trip this year, opting for Washington DC!
December 27
Happily, all the adult kids and their people were able to get the time off and join us and we managed to get into our two 8-passenger vehicles, with a seat to spare. Traffic was an issue of much of the time, as is expected on the New York to DC part of the east coast.
This day was for walking the city and spending a few hours at the American History Museum. We stopped at the the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and White House. It was the perfect weather for walking and some of us logged about 10 miles in total.
This day we hit the streets again, headed to the Museum of the Bible and then the Capitol. With the upcoming anniversary of the Capitol riots, it was special to see the kids playing toss with the football and peacefully being kids. We took a picture with part of our tax office crew in front of the IRS building.
The night ended with dinner in and a third night of games.
We got packed up and headed back home.
New York City.
I couldn't even replay how it all evolved, but we ended up with a perfectly eclectic crew for New Year's Eve. The evening was spent eating junk, playing games and more games and sitting by the fire and epic nerf battles. For the first time in many years, I was awake when the clock struck midnight.
What better way to start the new year than with your bro, working out the value of Pokemon cards. :)
This day was spent cleaning up from all the things, getting ready for all the things.
I called my post for this week Week 52 Part 2 :) I think it was just the way the year started. Although I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that 2021 snuck in an extra week. Ha!
