Project 365, Week 50

Work and scans and Christmas...beauty in the ordinary and extraordinary.

December 12
I got to train some new employees for the upcoming tax season, something I enjoy doing.

What a joy to pull in the driveway and see evidence of a kid having fun in the snow!

We used a gift card to go out to dinner. We discussed the call with the doctor that afternoon when we learned surgery was necessary, and soon. It will take a team, requiring everyone to step up.

December 13
Aiden and I went to Wegman's for a dinner date after the MRI in New York. As it turned out they were having a company party in the cafe area, so we ate in the car. I was so grateful for his company!

December 14
These days with Avery being a licensed driver, its highly unusual that she's our only kid at home. The other two were at mid-week but she opted to stay home and tackle her mounting pile of school work. A lit candle and cup of tea have the power to make things feel more manageable. :)

December 15
When Amanda chooses to jump in, she's very helpful. On this day she took it upon herself to tame the container cabinet. It was overflowing because even though we use one every two weeks as a "sharps" container when Shaun disconnects my chemo pump, we have more coming in through food lovingly prepared for us on treatment weeks. We are blessed!

December 16
The youth group Christmas Formal! Who doesn't love an excuse to get all dressed up?!? Amanda invited her friend Sarah over so they could get ready together.

I stayed at drop off to get a couple pictures. This is the TBQ group, minus one. I love our time together every week...they are really great kids and have a special bond.

Luke's mom snagged this one. What an honor to watch these boys grow up...cream of the crop!

December 17
Avery and I met up with Dakota and his mom and had a great visit. It was such a direct answer to many prayers. God sees the details.

December 18
Amanda spent Saturday and overnight with Sarah. They teamed up to make the preparations just right for Christmas. My girls love their time with Auntie Sarah and she enjoys girl time. They did an amazing job pulling everything together for a very special day with Shaun's family.

While the adults sat around the table, all on their own, Avery and Jack jumped in to do the dishes. It was very sweet!

My "secret santa" present was very special, from my brother-in-law, Micah. The verse scripted on the outside of the package was one of my favorites and special because "planted" was my 2021 word for the year.

But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in
a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.

The inside had a cross-stitched version of my blog heading "Blessed", professionally matted and framed. SO thoughtful and personal and time-intensive! It will forever be very dear to me.

Its tradition...socks from Nana!

And this year she printed and framed a photo of us girls from Christmas in 2011! It was fun to walk down memory lane. Nana has been a faithful part of our Christmas all these years, even from a distance. So special!
