Amanda is 2!

I always secretly judged people who had children on or around important holidays. Why would they do that to the poor kid, I asked myself. So that is why I ended up with a baby due on December 6, right in between the craziness of Thanksgiving and Christmas, and since we welcomed her nine days early, it only took two years for Amanda's birthday to land right on Thanksgiving. (God is constantly working on that judging thing with me...when, when will I get it?!)

So many things have changed this year Amanda, as you've gone from one to two. You are walking. You are talking is complete sentences, using words like "actually" and "probably". You are more potty trained than not, although its been a long road. You and Avery spend every waking moment together and you do an incredible job keeping up with her. One of my favorite things to do is to overhear your conversations in the monitor while you play together.

We're so thankful you joined our family. All at the same time it seems like you just arrived and like you've been with us forever. You have such a big heart! No one goes the day without getting several big hugs from you and you are quick to forgive.

You love to pray and talk to Jesus. Last night when you were praying over dinner we couldn't make out any of it except a "twinkle, twinkle little star" in the middle and "a-men!" at the end, but going to the throne is very serious to you.

When I scolded you about going in you pants, saying "Amanda, its your birthday, you are a big two-year old now" you answered with light in your eyes, "I eat birday cake!" We'll get you some birthday cake tomorrow, babe...but today know that you have a whole big family who loves you and is here to support you, especially Momma, Daddy and Avery. We love you! Happy Birthday, Baby.

  2. So sweet! We have 3 birthdays around Thanksgiving and Christmas! Ugh!! Kenners' is around Groundhog's Day (not a holiday in my book) and sometimes JK's b-day winds up being around Easter. Double ugh!!

  3. I always did the same judging thing too. Now Monkeys birthday will never be on Thanksgiving but we will get as close to two days before and Mr. Dunbar's birthday is only a week and a half after Christmas. God really has a sense of humor for us women, doesn't he? Happy Birthday to your lil one and congratulations to you. (Mommies deserve some credit too.) cheers.

  5. As a daughter of a little girl, who has made me the grandfather of two more, plus two grandsons, I can think of few blessings on the earthly side of our life that can compare with a little girl. How could Thanksgiving get better than yours?
