Gingerbread House

This is my speed for making a gingerbread house, at least at this time in our lives.
I have no idea why there is icing and candy remnants on Amanda's face. She certainly wouldn't have been sneaking any of it...

Hard at work...
Hopefully it goes without saying that I helped very little with decorating this masterpiece. I did have primary control of the white icing because it was hard to squeeze, but the rest they did.
Including the monogram on the front and the red icing glops. We had fun and I hope it is a special tradition for them as they grow.

This is unrelated but on Friday I asked Avery to go up and change out of her bathing suit (yes, she's on that kick again, different suit though) so she could go to her Rainbows program at church. When she came down in this outfit, I physically did a double-take.
However, I'm just not the type of mom who cares what other people think about how my kids are dressed. She takes great pride in selecting her clothes everyday and she does it herself so I'm not about to dash her spirits.
Occasionally I will say something like, "Just so you know, Avery, those orange stripes do not go with those green flowers", but usually she does an ok job.

  1. Hey, Lisa! I love that you let your girls have so much control, the gingerbread house, the clothing. I've really got to learn how to do that! I wish I did more entertaining; we live about 20-30 minutes away from most of our friends, so it's a rare opportunity!

  3. Aww, I think she's cute!

I love the gingerbread house. There's nothing more fun than letting the kiddos actually do it themselves. I think that's where the charm of it lies. :)
