Happy New Year?

Its a new year!

Yesterday was comical in an ironic sort of way. The last of our family had left from the Christmas week and my plan was to de-Christmasize (I'm certain that's not a word) the house, which brings me almost as much joy as putting it all up.

In reality, Shaun got a call shortly after the ball had dropped and our company had left that the boiler was not working at one of our apartment buildings. So Shaun went out in the FREEZING cold to work on that for the next three hours.

At 7 AM Avery came into our room and factually stated that her belly hurt and she had just thrown-up. I pulled her into bed with me, Shaun left for the couch and Avery and I made trips to the bathroom every 15-20 minutes for the next several hours.

There's no way of knowing how many loads of laundry I did over the course of the day, including the complete stripping and remaking of three beds. At one point when Shaun and I finally crossed paths, we kinda laughed and said, "Happy New Year!"

But Avery was happy to snuggle and is feeling good today and all my Christmas stuff is tucked away until next year.

This song has been playing in my heart and head yesterday and today:

I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in His hands

I have a Father
He calls me His own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call

  2. Ah, Poor baby! And poor Shaun, too, having to go out in the freezing weather - wow. Hope she's feeling better.
