Aiden is Six Months

This was a big month for Aiden.  He's learned so many new tricks.  He can sit for several minutes at a time, though he can't be alone like that and he is crawling in some manner.  He loves to get up on his hands and toes...I think its in part because he can and in part because he's trying the mechanics of getting where he wants to be.  I have to say I'm a teensy bit sad that he is crawling already.  Avery was sitting at five months and crawling at eight, so there were three wonderful months of her sitting in one place happily playing with toys.  It seems I will not get that luxury a second time.

He talks, especially when he is tired, saying "da da da".  Aiden is eating cereal and fruit one meal a day and we are quickly adding new things.  He can put Cheerios in his mouth but most actually end up on the floor.  His hands still operate very deliberately, as if they are made of lead but he literally gets more adept with each passing day.

He smiles big at his sisters...they both know how to talk baby talk or dance to make him laugh.  He spends lots of time sitting in his walker playing with toys and keeping an eye on their comings and goings.

Oh, he is such a sweet boy who loves his momma.  He's a good snuggler and I like exploiting that. :)  My favorite time is right after I've fed him.  I put him on my shoulder and he buries his head right in my neck, often tucking his arms in.  What a love.

Aiden's really starting to recognize people as if he's seen them before and knows who they are.  Though I have to fight with the girls over it, I love going to his room to get him up in the morning.  He's usually laying on his back, quietly talking to himself or his giraffe, who he's becoming good buddies with.  And its with reserved excitedness (is that a word?) that he watches his sisters climb into his crib after night or nap time.  He's happy to see them, just not sure what they will be doing to him.  They are always careful and would never hurt him; they just come in as a flurry of activity, wielding Barbies and all manner of girly things.

I'm not grieving the passing of time as much as I did with the first two or for that matter as much I wold expect to knowing he's my last.  I think part of that is I'm having so much fun with a three and four year-old, that I'm realizing there are great things about every age and its fun watching the growing up process.  Don't get me wrong, I long for time to stand still for a while at this stage in my life; I wish, for just a little longer, that Aiden could stay a dependant-on-me baby, whose eyes look at me with such love and adoration and whose needs I am able to provide for fairly easily.  But for now I'm going to soak it all in and watch in wonder as he gets bigger and learns new things.  And I ask the Lord, if there is any way that I can hold these days in my mind, to please let it happen.

And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom,
and the grace of God was upon him.
