Project 365, Week 1

I'm happy to be starting another year of Project 365.  I did stop to think about whether or not I wanted to continue, since it does take time.  Everyone says I don't have time, I'm so busy.  Well, that's not true at all...we all have time, the same amount actually, and I look at blogging as an investment. I can't imagine how priceless its going to be to be reading back through these years and being able to remember.  Remember the silly things my kids did, how they looked and what our lives were like with three little ones.  Priceless!

Sara is hosting again!  Here is her formal invitation:

So, won't you join us for 2010?!

We would love to have you with us. We post on Sundays.... the whole week's pictures. Come back here and link up with everyone else and share a piece of your life, make new friends and document memories!!

But remember....there is NO pressure.  If you miss a day, week, even month, jump right back in. We all agree this should be fun, not a chore!

One thing several others have done that I like and will try to add is a little snippet at the beginning before the pictures.  I think it helps give a flavor for the week and can sometimes be helpful in understanding the pictures.  Plus, its just that much more journaling (aka, remembering...I don't do that well unless its written down).

So, this week we wrapped up our Christmas festivies and rang in the new year.  I'm always a bit sad to see a year go, but thankful to be around for a new one (that's not a given, you know).  I love fresh starts and though I don't do New Year's resolutions, it IS a good time to shake off the holiday dust that has settled since before Thanksgiving.  All my Christmas stuff is put away and the house is pretty much back to normal.  I think the urgency I feel to put away the Christmas decorations is my subconcious way of doing what I can to get Spring here.  Yeah, I know...we still have a couple more weeks.  :)

December 27
We said good-bye to the last of our company.  We had such an incredible time being together....sad to see them go!

December 28
Shaun's mom and sister share a birthday and we went out to celebrate.  They turned 29 and 49, plus or minus a few.  :)

December 29
First day of physical therapy.  My cousin and uncle talked me into it, since I have always struggled to see the validity of it for my life.  I went three days in a row, while we were still in 2009.  We met our very large insrance deductible this year with Aiden, so it was "free".  They want me to keep going once a week, but at $100-$300 out of pocket each week, I'm thinking its not going to happen.

Though its been extremely frustrating for me to be dealing with this and I have zero patience for all things medical, I have to say I gained some perspective being in the physical therapy room.  There was a woman  there who were practicing going up and down stairs unassisted.  I gotta just be thankful!

December 30
Aiden spins and flips and shimmies to where he needs to go.  His latest trick is to get up on his hands and knees, or his hands and toes, then flop forward.  He's a man on a mission.

December 31
We finished out the new year with a trip to the ER.  Avery had been sick with a cold for several days, but woke from her nap crying and very evidently was in pain, complaining that her ear hurt.  By that time on New Year's Eve our doctor's office was closed and so were the two walk-in clinics we tried.  Again, we were thankful it was in 2009 because, say it with me...it was "free".  Shaun and Avery were out of there in well under an hour, with meds in hand for her for her double ear infection.  Avery was thrilled to have a bracelet.

And, the party must go on.  With some antibiotics and Tylenol, she was ready to go.  Shaun's brother Nathan hosted a karaoke party at our house with about 30 of his friends...and us.  At about 11:30, Avery finally got up the nerve to sing.  They sang The Wheels on The Bus.

We even had our very own Ball Drop.  Happy New Year!!

January 1
In keeping with tradition, we went to visit Shaun's grandparents who live about 45 minutes away.  Aiden was happy sitting with great-grandpa and chewing on his oxygen tube.  Its perfect because it doesn't fall on the floor.

January 2
Snuggle time with daddy before bed.  We all snuggle a little closer these days 'cause the house is c-c-c-cold.  :)

  1. I think I said this in a previous comment but I am so glad you're continuing this! I love "checking in" on all your fun each Sunday. You had me laughing at the "it's free" and that pic of Aiden chewing on the oxygen tube! Too cute.

  4. How sweet! Love those "free" trips to the hospital, too! Just think, the earlier you meet your deductible this year, everything else all year long will be "free"! Happy New Year to you and yours.

  6. Poor Avery..Sydney battles ear infections often and it is so hard to watch them in pain. I don't usually hand out tylanol, but with ear infections it comes out right away, with the Advil and a warm heating bag...(the bag helps a lot, by the way). So, I have been told by people that they could never start a Blog, or let their child do so, because they don't have TIME! I find that to be extremely insulting...If they don't want to that's fine, but I feel as though they are criticizing my use of my sweet time! U R right...we all decide what we have time for...:)

  12. We’ve spent two NewYear’s Eves’ in the ER in six years – so we tread carefully all day on Dec. 31st. This year – we’re good :-)

Gotta’ love the “free” part of medical stuff at the end of a calendar year! Hope Avery is feeling much better. Double ear infection = NO FUN for little ones. Bless you as you care for her.

LOVE your New Year’s ball! Funny... “Karaoke” and “Wheels on the Bus” don’t necessarily seem like they go together. But how precious!

Chewing on the oxygen tubing – too funny!

btw... we live in Rochester, Minnesota – so it’s probably more than a few hours away :(
But we do live in a 19th Century Victorian and it is quite cozy on the weekends when we turn the heat up to 65 degrees! M-F, we wear lots and lots (and LOTS) of layers.
