Electricity...What's THAT For?

You may have noticed I've added a "Like" button.  In general, I'm a slow-to-catch-on, ever-the-skeptic kind of person.  Blogging made zero sense to me when I first heard about it, but now I am the proud owner of (almost) three hard cover, bound books containing all my blog posts, which contain the history of our simple little lives over the last several years.  Priceless!  As a result, I am long since NOT a critic of blogging.

Over the past couple years I've been going through (am going through) a similar process with Facebook.  Ever so slooowly I am coming around.  Its been fun being connected with people I wouldn't otherwise be and I like knowing when all my friends are having birthdays, just not sure I understand it quite as well as most.  In addition to the social aspect,  I've been doing quite a bit of studying on the ways it can help my business, too.  See my Dayspring Photography Fan Page here.  (sorry, shameless plug :)

I guess it should also be noted, though everyone who knows me in real life is already well aware of this, that I have this same day-late approach to fashion.  When a new style first comes out I cannot stomach it and by the time its winding down I catch on.  Most I just miss entirely.  What can I say?

I'm fairly confident that if I'd been around when electricity was invented I would have wondered what in the world we would use that for.

Ah well...there you have it.  The story behind my "like" button. :)  And since this post is all about me, here's a photo of me and my favorite little man.

The Government of Death, its constitution chiseled on stone tablets, had a dazzling inaugural. Moses' face as he delivered the tablets was so bright that day (even though it would fade soon enough) that the people of Israel could no more look right at him than stare into the sun. How much more dazzling, then, the Government of Living Spirit?

If the Government of Condemnation was impressive, how about this Government of Affirmation? Bright as that old government was, it would look downright dull alongside this new one. If that makeshift arrangement impressed us, how much more this brightly shining government installed for eternity?

With that kind of hope to excite us, nothing holds us back. Unlike Moses, we have nothing to hide. Everything is out in the open with us. He wore a veil so the children of Israel wouldn't notice that the glory was fading away—and they didn't notice. They didn't notice it then and they don't notice it now, don't notice that there's nothing left behind that veil. Even today when the proclamations of that old, bankrupt government are read out, they can't see through it. Only Christ can get rid of the veil so they can see for themselves that there's nothing there.

Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We're free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.

II Corinthians 3:7-18

  2. I'd love to know how you print and bind your blog posts. I was just talking to my hubby about that the other day. I'd hate to lose all my blog posts and we'd love to have a more permanent "home" for our day-to-day memories.

Also, I'm the same way when it comes to fashion. I'm currently boycotting skinny jeans and leggings. Just about the time everyone else is over it is probably when I'll decide it's not so bad. :)
