A deep theological discussion over breakfast. I live with some really smart people.

Dropped the kids at school and went for a walk. We are having glorious weather and it feels fabulous to be feeling good and out walking. Also, Priscilla Shirer preached it in my earbuds.

I ran errands on foot before picking up the kids from their half day. I really, really like our location because I can get to the bank, post office, library, store by walking and I've fully taken advantage all of the in the 21 years we've lived in town (maybe not this past year so much ;). Shaun and I even used to walk to rent movies from the VHS store. :)

Anyway, I was walking with no jacket...in December! And I was struck that it should have been a sick-in-bed day but wasn't and I should have sent a kid in to buy the stamps but I could go in myself and chat with the stressed out postal worker til he smiled and I got to pick up my kids early from school because they had a half day. I was feeling so happy and blessed, I thought I was going to burst.

Because of the errands, I approached the school from a different direction than usual and was enamored with the view. The school is to the right and that's the hill we walk up to the left.

Unless there are special circumstances, we try to get homework done right after school. The girls do this on their own, Aiden still thinks playing with legos is a more pressing priority.

The girls were super helpful with getting the Christmas cards out this year.

The boys, not so much.

Avery renewed the efforts to get (just) two strands of lights hung outside. We may be a couple years out from being a Christmas-Light-Viewing destination spot.

Digging in the dirt, in the dark.

What I'm learning about teens with school and work and girlfriends is they are not home a whole lot. Since the kids could get their homework done early and had no evening activities, I asked Shaun to come home from work earlier and R to leave for his girlfriend's later so we could have a family evening. The six of us sat down to dinner and then played a rousing game of Star Wars Monopoly. So fun!
