Project 365, Week 45

This was a unique week for us.  No doubt you've seen the snowstorm stories on the news throughout the week.  It was a "once a generation" snow in October.  That's bad, but what made it devastating is the fact that SO many trees still had some or all of their leaves on.  Add some very wet, heavy snow to that and you have whole trees and branches scattered all over the state and beyond.

I only caught the beauty in photos, not the utter devastation that was almost everywhere else but where I was.  Many have still not gotten their power back and temperatures have dipped in the 20's and 30's overnight.  Schools across the state were cancelled for the entire week.  Crazy, crazy stuff.

Sadly, "the show did not go on" on Sunday and instead of doing sound for the production, Shaun spent the day plowing driveways and hooking up generators.

October 30
I took a little drive, completely oblivious that there was very real, widespread damage throughout most of Connecticut.  It was SO pretty though.

October 31
School was cancelled for Avery so Shaun and the girls drove up to MA to tear down all the staging, sound and lighting in the daylight.  My kitchen was turned into an internet cafe, and the shower even got some use!

Pop and Kiki ended up taking Aiden shopping, so the house was very quiet and conducive to working.  We skipped right over the Halloween thing without anyone caring or noticing.
 November 1
Shaun and Amanda left at 4:30 am to join a group going down to Virginia, the next location for the show.  There is so, SO much work that has to happen before any of the actors even get on stage.  They worked until after midnight each night.

Colombo III and Colombo IV came down for school and work.  In fact, they came down Monday to Thursday.  Their power was restored Saturday night, so it was out one full week, almost to the hour!  Aiden was happy to sit and do "school" with his cousin (he is homeschooled and most of his work is with a classroom on the internet).

 November 2
Avery had a scheduled half day and she was thrilled to find Colombo at our house.
 November 3
Since Shaun was gone, I had to wake Aiden up every morning at 8:15, throw him in the stroller and walk Avery to school.  He was never cranky, just a little zoned out.
After school we packed up and met up with some friends to make the trip to Virginia where our guys were.  It was a pretty easy trip and we had a great time being together.  Aiden was an amazing traveler.  He was in the third row by himself.  Five minutes from home he pipes up, "Are we almost there yet?"  Ha!  And that was pretty much the last we heard from him for the duration.  He really enjoyed watching Anne of Green Gables!  You better believe I'm going to foster that.  :)

It was a happy, happy reunion with Shaun and Amanda at 1 AM.
 November 4
We slept in, had a relaxing afternoon and then we joined Shaun and the team for rehearsal at the church.
 November 5
Shaun got a little free time, so we headed to Washington DC.  We stopped at the National Air & Space Museum, mostly for Aiden's benefit and then we went to visit President Obama...he didn't come out to wave.
I'm linking up with Sara this week.  Hope you have a blessed week!

  2. That is a beautiful photo! It's unfortunate that such beauty also comes with devastation.

  6. Oh I know it isn't good when an early snow or ice comes when the trees still have their leaves. That has happened here before, and many trees and branches break!

The pictures of the trees are so pretty. I love the pretty trees when they change colors. Snow is pretty too...but I pretty much stay inside when it snows.

Indoor games are fun when it is too cold to go outside. And I also love to watch good movies and drink warm tea!

We had an earthquake here in Kansas last night. I have lived here 32 years and never felt one. But I am from Southern Calif. and we had them there. They un-nerve me! So do the tornadoes. Ugh!

But God is in control..and I do put my trust in Him!
