God Bless Our Family

Well, the days just keep ticking by at lightning speed.  Somedays I feel cool, calm and collected, as if I could conquer the world; other days, I feel overwhelmed and defeated before I've even made it three hours into the day.  Whichever type of day it is, I am aware that my strength comes from Him.

Z has been with us for one month today.  While we are thrilled to have him here, I definitely underestimated the type of commitment it would be.  Certainly, I knew we were adding a fourth child to our little brood, and four kids is no joke, as Jillian Michaels would say (about workouts, not kids).  What I really wasn't planning on were the unceasing appointments that go along with him.

Shaun and I are both pretty low maintenance people.  We seek out the simple life.  Having Z here has created an intimidating amount of weekly appointments with visits and social workers.  There are anywhere from four to eight such appointment/commitment "things" that go with him each week!  Add to that baseball twice a week and a school schedule and well...it can get kinda crazy.

As a matter of fact, I went out and bought a new calendar with larger squares and then proceeded to fill it right up.  This from a girl who used to take pride in the fact that she could go days and days without the car leaving the driveway.  Now?  Not so much.

The other day he said to me, "When I was at home, my family would sometimes just stay in the house all day."  Ha!  Yeah, we used to have those days, too!  :)

We're happy to have him here and so very grateful for the grace God pours out on each day.

Avery brought this drawing home from school this week.  So sweet that she included Z...all the kids truly see him as a brother.  Oh, to have a child's heart!

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

  1. Will you always have this many appointments, or is it just during this start-up time?

I love how Amanda is bigger than everyone in the picture Avery drew :)

  2. Your schedule with Z sounds like our schedule with Cole. Always a million appointments with many different providers. As a close friend of mine said, "there is no fix, only hard work and the hard work means many appointments." It's true but I sure do miss those days when we didn't leave the house too!

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world.
