Yellowstone

So very much want to share my Montana trip with you here, but the task in daunting.  I want to tell the story, to do it justice, but I'm just not sure where to begin.  Instead, I think I'll dance around it for a bit until I've figured something out.

One of the mornings we were there we drove the hour (and a half?) to Yellowstone National Park and did the upper western loop, stopping when we just couldn't help ourselves.

One of the things that struck me the most was the variety of terrain....much of it straight out of a sci-fi movie.  We had lovely weather, adding to the amazing-ness of it all.

We were in awe of what can be created with just one giant explosion!  ;)

This is one of my favorite pictures of all time.  Old men love babies (and their cute mammas), so Renna (and Amy) attracted her fair share of admirers.  Though this man is a random stranger, doesn't it look like these three are having the time of their lives?  Makes me laugh every time I see it.

A little bit of nail-biting driving.

We felt like city slickers the whole visit, but we left no doubt when we returned and reported we'd seen baby moose.  Our host did his best to hid his smirk as he told us it would have been baby elk we saw.  Moose, elk...what's the difference?!

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!
Genesis 1: 1,31

  1. City slickers, indeed :)
Agreed about the picture of Renna and Amy laughing with random guy - so funny, and representative of multiple interactions like that on the trip!

Such fun memories, makes me happy.
